ZAK WRIGHT

Zak Wright, a men’s soccer student-athlete, was a four-year starter for the Pride from 1992 through 1995 and left as the Pride’s all-time leader in goals and points.

Zak led the team in scoring in each of his four seasons, recording 42 goals, 12 assists and 96 points in his collegiate career. His career goal total now ranks second all-time at Hofstra, while he is third all-time in points.

As a freshman in 1992, Zak recorded 12 goals for 24 points before erupting for 16 goals, one assist and 33 points in 1993. Leading Hofstra to a 13-7-1 record, the programs first winning campaign in eight years, Zak was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Year.

In 1994 he became a more complete player, as he tallied seven goals and added a career-best seven assists as the team posted a 12-4-3 record. Zak closed out his career in 1995 with seven goals and four assists for 18 points.

A four-time Regional All-American, Zak also starred in the classroom, as he was a Dean’s List student at Hofstra. Zak earned ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades in 1993 and was a 1995 ISAA New York Region Scholar-Athlete first team selection. In 1996 he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-Region team.

After graduating with a degree in banking and finance, Zak went on to pursue a career in mortgage banking and currently works for Citibank. Zak also continued his soccer career, playing three seasons for Greek Atlas of the Northeast Super Soccer League.
