JANET ROGLER (WALSH)

Janet Rogler was a dual-sport athlete during her playing career, competing on the field hockey team from 1995 to 1998 and on the women's lacrosse team from 1996 to 2000.

As a member of the field hockey team, Janet was an all-region and all-conference performer. She ranks as Hofstra's all-time leader in points (127) and goals (55), while ranking eighth all-time in assists (17). She also shares the single-season record for goals scored with 20 in 1998.

Janet made an immediate impact on the field hockey team, ranking second on the team in scoring as a freshman with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points. As a sophomore she also ranked second on the team in scoring with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. As a junior she claimed the team lead in scoring with 13 goals, two assists and 28 points. For her efforts, Janet was named to the All-Mid-East Region team. In 1998 Janet scored a school-record 20 goals and added four assist for a then-school best 44 points, leading the America East in overall scoring and goals. Following her senior campaign, Janet was named to the All-America East first team.

Janet was a three-time All-America East selection, as well a Regional All-American in women's lacrosse. She tallied 101 goals, 48 assists and 149 points during her tenure and ranks in the career top 10 in all three categories.

Janet scored 18 goals and added nine assists for 27 points as a freshman, while also contributing 58 ground balls. She followed that up with a 22-goal, 14-assist, 72-ground ball campaign as a sophomore, earning All-America East honors.

As a junior she was also an All-America East pick after tallying 27 goals, eight assists and 51 ground balls. After a knee injury caused her to miss most of the 1999 season, Janet returned with a vengeance in 2000, scoring a career-best 34 goals and 17 assists for 51 points. She also added a team-best 74 ground balls. She earned first team all-region and all-conference accolades and ranked in the top 10 in scoring in the America East.

Following graduation with a degree in social science, Janet served a graduate assistant in the Hofstra Office of Athletic Communications while pursuing her MBA. She also holds a master's in physical education from Adelphi.

Janet is currently teaching and coaching at Garden City High School. She and her husband, former Hofstra Lacrosse player Chris Rogler '99, reside in Garden City, New York, with their children Hayden and CJ.
