OWEN B. WALSH 

Owen B. Walsh, a 1952 graduate with degrees in history and political science, was a four-year letterwinner in Lacrosse and a two-time team captain. Owen was an honorable mention All-America selection in 1952 and was an initial inductee to the Hofstra College Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
 
He co-founded the Long Island Lacrosse Club, with teammate Bill Donnelly ’53, which still continues today and is affiliated with the University. In 2001 Owen received the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.
 
Following graduation, Owen earned his J.D. from NYU School of Law in 1955 and would earn a master of public administration from C.W. Post in 1980. From 1965 through 1989 Owen served in the U.S. Naval Reserve Intelligence Program and retired from the Navy in the rank of Captain. In 1978 he took on the job of chief deputy county attorney in Nassau County, a position he held until 1992. In 1993 Owen was promoted to county attorney and served in that role until 1999. He was also dean of the Academy of Law at the Nassau County Bar Association from 1989 through 1991 and is a past president of the Nassau County Bar Association (2001-02), after having served in all five prior officer positions in the Association.
