Kathleen Durnin (Mikowski)
A women's lacrosse student-athlete for four years (2000-03) and a three-year (1999-01) member of the women's soccer team, Kathleen Mikowski was a two-time All-American on the lacrosse field and is Hofstra's all-time leading scorer with 240 points.
She ranks first in career goals with 183, fifth in assists with 57 and second with 148 ground balls. Her 57 goals during the 2003 season rank as the highest single season mark in Pride women's lacrosse history.
One of just four players in program history to earn All-America honors twice, she was also a three-time all-region and all-conference selection (one America East, two Colonial Athletic Association), as well as the 2000 America East Rookie of the Year.
As a midfielder on the soccer team, Kathleen recorded four goals and five assists in her three seasons.
Kathleen was a two-time recipient of the Dr. Nathalie J. Smith Award as Hofstra's Female Athlete of the Year, winning in 2002 and 2003. She was also named the Women's Lacrosse Most Valuable Player following her senior campaign.
Following her graduation, Kathleen played for the New York Athletic Club lacrosse team for three years.
A native of New Hyde Park, New York, Kathleen and her husband, Sean, have two children - Sean and Aidan. She has taught health education and physical education in the Baldwin School District for the past nine years, and has also coached both soccer and lacrosse on the varsity and middle school level.
