DR. PETER CAPONE
Dr. Peter Capone, a two-time All-American, wrestled at Hofstra from 1981 to 1985.
Peter earned All-America accolades in 1983 and again in 1985, finishing as the runner-up at 167 pounds in the 1985 NCAA Championships.
A two-time East Coast Conference champion, Peter was named the East Coast Conference Championship Most Outstanding Wrestler in 1983 and 1985, and helped the Pride win the 1983 ECC Championship.Â
Following graduation in 1985, Peter attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1989. He joined Riverside Dental Associates and developed his general dentist practice.
In 1990 he became varsity wrestling coach at Johnson City High School in Johnson City, New York. One of the most successful scholastic programs in the state, Peter has coached three New York State championship squads, six individual state champions, one high school national champion and a NCAA National Champion (Josh Glenn-American University). He has coached the New York State National Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling teams and was a 1999 inductee into the New York State College Wrestling Hall of Fame.Â
