A baseball student-athlete from 1992 through 1995, Miller batted in the heart of the order for some of Hofstra's best offensive teams. The Diamond Conference Most Valuable Player in 1994, Miller ranks first all-time at Hofstra in career home runs (38) and runs (167), second in career triples (9), and third in career RBIs (161). He recorded 180 career hits and ranks seventh all-time with a .369 career batting average. During his senior campaign, Miller blasted a school-record 20 home runs and drove in 57 runs for the second consecutive season. He batted .411 that season, ranking 23rd in the nation, and finished second in slugging percentage (.911) and eighth in home runs. As a junior, Miller led the nation in RBIs and runs per game at 1.58. Miller was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 29th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft and spent three seasons in the minors. He returned to Long Island to begin a teaching and coaching career at the scholastic level, and currently serves as an elementary school physical education teacher in the Smithtown School District.
