BB: Dominican Republic Trip Update

Guerra, Dominican Republic - Hofstra improved to 3-2 on its exhibition game trip to the Dominican Republic with wins over the Houston Astros Academy and the Mejia and Neno Baseball Academy. 

In the 3-0 win over the Astros, John Rooney and Michael James each threw three shutout innings while Kevin O'Connor (RBI single) and Vito Friscia (two-run double) provided the offense. Hofstra followed that up with 7-1 and 9-3 wins over the Mejia and Neno Baseball Academy in split squad games. Parker Quinn collected a two-run single, Austin Gauthier an RBI single and Devon Jeffreys and RBI walk to back starter Billy Kral in the 7-1 game. In the 9-3 contest, Justin Smith hit a grand slam home run. 

Hofstra had its game against the Los Angeles Dodgers Academy called due to poor field conditions following a rain delay. The Pride led, 1-0, at the time after and RBI single from Jeffreys. Seamus Brazill threw three scoreless innings. 

The Pride conclude the trip today with a game against the Washington Nationals Academy.
