Five Named To College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

Hempstead, NY - Five Hofstra University baseball student-athletes have been selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team it was announced today by the organization. Receiving Academic All-District accolades are Jackson Bauer, Michael Brown, Joseph Curreri, Sean Hamilton, and Gabriel Melara

Bauer, a senior pitcher majoring in management, has a 3.52 grade point average. He appeared in 14 games this past season, posting a 2-1 record with 28 strikeouts. This marks Bauer's first CSC All-Academic honor.

Brown, a junior infielder majoring in sports management, owns a 3.65 overall grade point average. On the field, he was an All-CAA Second Team selection after batting .314 with 10 doubles, 3 home runs, 27 RBIs, and 49 runs scored. Brown is a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree.

Curreri, a junior pitcher majoring in finance, possesses a 3.78 grade point average. He appeared in 15 games this past season with two starts. Curreri had a 1-1 record, a 3.57 ERA, and 25 strikeouts. It is his first CSC Academic All-District honor. 

Hamilton, a graduate pitcher majoring in finance owns a 4.00 grade point average. A two-time Academic All-District selection, he pitched in 14 games with 10 starts and recorded 32 strikeouts. 

Melara, a junior third baseman majoring in rhetoric and public advocacy, carries a 3.88 grade point average. A Second Team All-CAA selection this past season, he led the team in batting at .335 and added 11 doubles, 6 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 40 runs scored. This is Melara's first Academic All-District honor.
