Josh Byrne was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and newcomer
Ryan Tierney was voted the CAA Rookie of the Year to highlight seven Pride players who were voted to the 2017 All-CAA Men's Lacrosse Team.

Brett Osman (Miller Place, NY) were voted to the All-CAA first team. Tierney (Massapequa, NY) and junior defender
Tanner Griffin (Loveland, OH) were named to the All-CAA second team.

Kyle Gallagher (Northport, NY) were All-Rookie team selections while senior defensive midfielder Thomas Voelkel (Chapel Hill, NC) was Hofstra's representative on the CAA Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team.
Byrne is the fifth Hofstra player to earn CAA Player of the Year honors following
Sam Llinares in 2015, Jay Card in 2009, Chris Unterstein in 2006 and Nicky Polanco in 2002. Tierney is also the fifth Hofstra student-athlete to earn CAA Rookie of the Year honors following Jay Card in 2008, Tom Dooley in 2006, Michael Unterstein in 2005 and Brett Moyer in 2003. The Pride's double-dip this season is the second time the program has captured both the Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season following Chris Unterstein (Player) and Tom Dooley (Rookie) in 2006.
Byrne leads Hofstra and the Colonial Athletic Association in goals (36), assists (24) and points (60) while playing in 13 games for the 11-2 and 14th-ranked Pride this season. He has posted nine multi-goal games including seven with three goals or more and currently has an 18-game point scoring streak. He picked up 20 ground balls and had two game-winning goals. Byrne, who earned CAA Player of the Week honors three times this season, was an All-CAA first team selection in 2016.
Tierney has started all 13 games as a freshman and is second on the Pride and fourth in the CAA in points with 43 on 27 goals and 16 assists. He ranks fourth in the CAA in goals and fifth in assists. Tierney has posted six multi-goal games including five hat-tricks and a season-high five goals against Drexel. He also tallied five points in games against Georgetown (4-1) and NJIT (3-2). Tierney picked up 17 ground balls and is tied for the team-lead with five man-up goals.
Concannon leads the CAA in save percentage (.581), is second in saves (150), and goals against average (8.47) while playing all but 15 minutes this season. He has recorded double-digit saves in eight of the 13 games including a career-high 19 saves against Providence and 17 stops against both Stony Brook and Georgetown. Concannon, who has also been named the CAA Player of the Week three times this season, was also an All-CAA first team pick in 2016. Hofstra's defense ranks second in the CAA and 12th in the nation with an 8.46 goals against average in 2017.
Alderman, a 2015 CAA All-Rookie Team selection, earned his first All-CAA selection in 2017. He is third on the Pride and ninth in the conference in points with 35 on 18 goals and 17 assists. All are career-highs. Alderman ranks third in the CAA with his 17 assists. This season he has recorded four multi-goal games including three hat-tricks and tallied a career-best six points (3-3) in Hofstra's win at North Carolina earlier this season. Alderman also posted a career-best four goals against Massachusetts on April 22.
Kavanagh is also making his debut on the All-CAA teams after posting career-highs of 21 goals and 25 points this season. His previous highs were 10 goals and 23 points in 2016. Kavanagh has recorded five multi-goal contests this season including three hat-tricks. He had a career-high four goals at Georgetown and tied his career-best with two assists against NJIT and Fairfield. Kavanagh has four man-up goals and two game-winning goals this season.
Osman, who came to Hofstra from Marist College for the 2015-16 season, is also a first-time All-CAA honoree. He has started all 13 games and is second on the Pride defense with 24 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Osman, who was a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie Team selection while at Marist in 2015, also recorded his first collegiate point on an assist at Towson last Saturday. Hofstra's defense ranks second in the CAA and 12th in the nation with an 8.46 goals against average in 2017.
Griffin, who was a 2015 CAA All-Rookie Team selection, earned his first All-CAA honor on the second team. He started all 13 games on defense and recorded 27 ground balls and led the team with 10 caused turnovers. Griffin scooped up four ground balls three times and posted a career-high four caused turnovers at Towson last week, Griffin also showed some scoring prowess from the defense as he scored the first two goals of his collegiate career against Monmouth and Fairfield this season. Hofstra's defense ranks second in the CAA and 12th in the nation with an 8.46 goals against average in 2017.
Face-off specialist
Kyle Gallagher joins
Ryan Tierney on the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2017. Gallagher has played in 11 games after making a miraculous recovery from a cervical spine fracture last summer. He took over for senior
Kris Clarke after the two-time All-CAA selection went down with an injury just before the start of the season. Gallagher took 204 face-offs, winning 99 and picking up a team-high 62 ground balls. He captured 10 of 12 face-offs against St. John's, 13 of 21 at Princeton, 22 of 25 against NJIT and 14 of 26 against Drexel. Gallagher also recorded two goals (Princeton and NJIT) and two assists (Delaware and UMass).
Senior Thomas Voelkel was selected to the CAA Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team. The two-time Hofstra team captain owns a 3.80 cumulative grade point average in finance and was the 2016-17 Hofstra Athletics Nicholas Colleluori Unsung Hero Award recipient recently. Voelkel played in 11 games this season, missing two to injury, on the man-down unit. He was a Senior CLASS Award nominee and the One Love Foundation's Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award nominee.
