Gus Langtry and
Joey DeYoung each had a pair of goals for the Pride, but Stony Brook rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to defeat the Hofstra men's lacrosse team, 12-7, on Friday night at LaValle Stadium.
Hofstra slipped to 2-5 with the loss, while Stony improved to 4-3 with the victory.
The Pride scored three of the first four goals in the contest as Langtry scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the game to make it 3-1 with 4:30 to play in the first quarter. DeYoung would net his first tally of the game with just under 10 minutes left before halftime to allow the Pride to take the 4-2 advantage.
Stony Brook responded after the intermission, though, and the Seawolves scored the first four goals of the third quarter to lead 6-4. Hofstra would close the gap to one on three separate occasions the remainder of the way, including at 8-7 in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get over the hump and dropped the road tilt.
Shea Kennedy made 12 saves in net for the Pride.
John Hicks tallied three points on a goal and two assists, while
Austin Clarke had a team-best five ground balls and
Blake Cooling tallied three caused turnovers.
Four different players had three points on two goals and one assist for Stony Brook with Caleb Yeung adding two ground balls and a caused turnover to lead the way.
Hofstra is back in action on Saturday, March 21 when it hosts Monmouth at 1 p.m.
NOTES
- It was DeYoung's fifth game with two goals this season, while Langtry has had at least two goals three times in 2026.
- It was the sixth time this season that Kennedy has had at least 10 saves in a game and the 16th time in his career.
- Hofstra is now 9-7 all-time against Stony Brook.
