Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University senior lacrosse player
Josh Byrne was named to the 2017 All-Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Men's Lacrosse first team and three other Pride student-athletes were named to the All-ECAC second team, the ECAC announced Tuesday.

Jack Concannon, midfielder
Brendan Kavanagh and defenseman
Brett Osman were named to the All-ECAC second team. All are first-time ECAC honorees.
Byrne, a native of New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, earned Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year honors in 2017. He also earned All-CAA first team accolades for the second consecutive season after leading Hofstra and the CAA in goals (41), assists (25) and points (66) while playing in 14 games for the 11-3 and 16th-ranked Pride this season. Byrne was also an Inside Lacrosse Division I Media All-America honorable mention in 2017. Nationally, he ranks seventh in goals per game, 12
th in points per game and 21
st in assists per game.
Byrne posted 10 multi-goal games in 2017, including eight contests with three goals or more. He ended his career with a 19-game point scoring streak. Byrne picked up 23 ground balls and had two game-winning goals. He also earned CAA Player of the Week honors three times this season.
Concannon, who was named to the 2017 Inside Lacrosse Division I Media All-America second team, was also named to the All-CAA first team for the second consecutive season in 2017. The Lindenhurst, New York native leads the CAA in goals against average (8.80) and save percentage (.571) and is second in saves (161) while playing all but 15 minutes this season. Nationally, Concannon ranks fifth in save percentage, 13
th in goals against average and 16
th in saves per game
Concannon recorded double-digit saves in nine of the 14 games in 2017 including a career-high 19 saves against Providence and 17 stops against both Stony Brook and Georgetown. He was named the CAA Player of the Week three times this season.
Kavanagh, a native of Rockville Centre, NY, was named to the All-CAA first team for the first time in 2017. He posted career-highs of 21 goals and 25 points this season after recording previous highs of 10 goals and 23 points in 2016.
Kavanagh recorded five multi-goal contests including three hat-tricks. He had a career-high four goals at Georgetown and tied his career-best with two assists against NJIT and Fairfield. Kavanagh had four man-up goals and two game-winning goals in 2017.
Osman, who came to Hofstra from Marist College for the 2015-16 season, was also a first-time All-CAA first team honoree in 2017. The Miller Place, NY native started all 14 games and was second on the Pride defense with 25 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Osman, who was a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Rookie Team selection while at Marist in 2015, also recorded his first collegiate point on an assist at Towson. Hofstra's defense ranks second in the CAA and 14th in the nation with an 8.79 goals against average in 2017.
