Hempstead, NY – The nationally-ranked Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team will put their 6-0 record on the line this Tuesday, March 21 when the Pride host Long Island-rival, the Seawolves of Stony Brook at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
The Lax Sports Network will broadcast the Hofstra game against Stony Brook as part of the "
CAA Game of the Week" broadcast package. As part of the

Hofstra, which is ranked in the Top 15 in all three weekly Division I polls, is 6-0 on the season heading into their contest against Stony Brook. The Pride is ranked sixth in the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll, seventh in the Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Media Poll and 11th in the Nike/USILA Coaches Poll last week with new polls coming out on Monday (March 20).
Hofstra is coming off an 11-10 victory over the Friars of Providence College at Shuart Stadium Saturday afternoon. Junior goalie
Jack Concannon recorded a career-high 19 saves, including 11 in the second half, to post his sixth victory of the year. The Pride led 11-5 after three quarters but the Friars came roaring back with five goals in the final period. Only Concannon's five saves in the fourth quarter preserved the Hofstra victory.
Senior
Josh Byrne tallied four goals and one assist to lead the Pride. Sophomore
Jimmy Yanes added career-highs of three goals and four points and equaled his career-best with one assist. Junior
Dylan Alderman contributed a goal and two assists while classmate
Brendan Kavanagh scored twice. Senior
Kris Clarke made his season debut after missing the first five games with an injury and won eight of 11 face-offs before finishing the game 11 of 24.
Hofstra, which has opened the season with six consecutive wins for the first time since 1973 and only the fourth time in school history, has wins over Monmouth (11-9), Princeton (10-8), NJIT (20-4), Georgetown (11-9), North Carolina (11-9) and Providence (11-10).
Byrne now has 20 goals and 12 assists in six games this season while freshman
Ryan Tierney has added 12 goals and eight assists. Kavanagh has scored 12 goals and two assists while Alderman has added six goals and nine assists. Concannon has an 8.17 goals against average with 76 saves and a .618 save percentage.
Stony Brook and the Pride will be meeting for the eighth time this Tuesday. Hofstra leads the series, 4-3. The two teams met last at Stony Brook on March 15, 2016 with the Seawolves posting a 13-5 victory. It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2009 when the Pride topped Stony Brook, 11-10 in Hempstead. In last year's contest, the Seawolves jumped out to a 7-0 lead after one quarter and never looked back on the way to the victory. Hofstra was led by
Sam Llinares and
Brian von Bargen with two goals each.
The Seawolves of Stony Brook enter Tuesday's game with a 4-2 record with victories over Sacred Heart (12-11), St. John's (14-5), Brown (25-17) and Fairfield (9-6) and losses to Rutgers (17-4) and UMBC (12-9). SBU has dropped its last two outings. The Seawolves average 12.17 goals per game and allow 11.33 per outing.
Stony Brook is led in scoring by senior Alex Corpolongo with 16 goals and five assists in six games. Classmate Ryan Bitzer has added seven goals and a team-high 12 assists while freshman Tom Haun has chipped in with 11 goals and seven assist. Freshman Cory VanGinhoven has contributed 13 goals and three assists. Junior Brandon Maciejewski has an 11.69 goals against average with 49 saves and a .426 save percentage in the Seawolves goal.
After the Stony Brook contest, the Pride will wrap-up their three-game homestand at Shuart Stadium when they host the Red Storm of St. John's on Saturday night, March 25. Game time is 7 p.m.
