Pride Returns To CAA Play; Ryan Tierney Jersey Retirement Pregame

4/2/2026 9:20:00 AM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will return to CAA play this weekend when the Pride hosts Fairfield. Prior to the game, Hofstra Athletics will retire Ryan Tierney's #13 jersey.

It will also serve as the program's alumni day.

The opening face-off from James M. Shuart Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

For ticket information, visit HofstraTickets.com, call (516) HOF-TIXX, or stop by the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex during normal business hours. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Pride women's lacrosse team, which will host Drexel at 12 p.m. One lucky fan at the men's lacrosse game will win a brand-new lacrosse stick courtesy of Lacrosse Unlimited. There will also be postgame autographs with members of the Pride team! One ticket is good for both games.

The game will air on MSG and FloCollege. Links to the broadcast, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's lacrosse schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Ryan Tierney, one of the most accomplished players in Hofstra men's lacrosse history, will have his No. 13 jersey retired in a pregame ceremony on Saturday. A member of the Pride from 2017 to 2021, Tierney finished his career as the program's all-time leader in goals (164) and points (251) while also ranking among the top scorers in CAA history. The 2021 CAA Player of the Year and 2017 CAA Rookie of the Year, Tierney earned multiple All-CAA honors and All-America recognition during his career. He will become just the fourth men's lacrosse student-athlete in program history to have his jersey retired, cementing his legacy as one of the defining players in Hofstra lacrosse history.

Hofstra enters Saturday's game with a 2-7 overall mark and a CAA record of 0-2. The Pride's last two games have been decided by a total of three goals, including a narrow 15-13 defeat to #20 Sacred Heart this past Saturday. Drew Bogardus led Hofstra with four goals in the game, while Gus Langtry and Trevor Natalie both had three points on two goals and one assist.

Fairfield will bring a 4-6 overall record and a 1-2 CAA record into Saturday's match-up. The Stags most recently dropped a 16-10 contest to Stony Brook last Saturday. Rob Moore had four points on four assists for Fairfield, while Jake Gilbert tallied three points on two goals and one assist.

Saturday will be the 18th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Fairfield. The Stags lead the series, 9-8. Fairfield, #20 in the nation at the time, won 14-10 in the 2025 meeting.
