Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Men's Lacrosse attackman
Ryan Tierney has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 19, the CAA announced Tuesday.
Tierney, a freshman from Massapequa, New York, made his collegiate debut with a three goal, one-assist performance in the Pride's 11-9 victory over Monmouth at James M. Shuart Stadium last Saturday. The Massapequa High School product scored Hofstra's first goal of the season, on his first shot, just 2:48 into the game against Monmouth.
Tierney also added goals in both the second and third quarters to record his first collegiate hat-trick. His third goal of the day, a man-up goal late in the third quarter, gave the Pride an 11-5 advantage. Tierney also assisted on one of
Josh Byrne's third goals in the contest for the four-point day.
Tierney and the Pride will be back in action on Saturday, February 25 when Hofstra travels to New Jersey to face the Tigers of Princeton at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium.
