Richmond, VA - Hofstra University freshman midfielder
Dylan Alderman has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 22, the CAA announced Monday.
Alderman, a newcomer from Downingtown, PA, recorded one goal and four assists as the Pride split two games last week, topping St. John's, 10-7 before falling to Massachusetts in the CAA opener, 9-7.
A graduate of Bishop Shanahan High School, Alderman set new personal-bests with three assists and four points in the Pride's 10-7 victory over local rivals, the Red Storm of St. John's. He scored his lone goal in the contest late in the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3 at halftime. He posted an assist in the first quarter and on goals by
Brier Davis in the third and four quarters. Against UMass on Saturday, he assisted on
Mike Malave's first goal of the game just 1:31 into the contest.
Alderman now has five goals and nine assists in eight games this season.
The CAA also announced that Fairfield sophomore goalie Tyler Behring was named the CAA Player of the Week after recording a 3.56 goals against average, 22 saves and a .759 save percentage in wins over UMass-Lowell and 20th-ranked Villanova.
Alderman and the Pride will be back in action this Saturday, March 28 when they travel south to face the Blue Hens of Delaware at Delaware Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.
