Hempstead, NY – The first iteration of The Long Island Rivalry in 2025 is set to take place on Friday, February 7, as the Hofstra women's basketball team travels nearly 40 miles east to take on Stony Brook.
Tip-off from Stony Brook Arena is set for 7 p.m. on Friday.

Hofstra dropped to 9-11 overall and 4-5 in the CAA following a 73-42 loss at Charleston last Sunday.
Zyheima Swint paced the Pride with eight points against the Cougars, and
Chloe Sterling pulled down six rebounds to lead the team.
Last season's regular season CAA champions and picked to finish ninth in the 2024-25 CAA Preseason Poll, Stony Brook enters Friday with an overall record of 10-11 and a mark of 5-5 against conference opponents after dropping a 65-57 decision at UNCW this past Sunday. Zaida Gonzalez is averaging 17.1 points per game to lead the Seawolves in scoring.
Hofstra is 7-9 all-time against Stony Brook after losing both matchups against the bitter Suffolk County-based rivals last season, and the Seawolves hold a 4-0 edge over Hofstra since joining the CAA at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.
