On To The Championship Game! Hofstra Knocks Off Drexel In Overtime

Washington, DC - Hofstra used a 7-0 run in overtime to take a 51-46 lead and defeated third-seeded Drexel, 53-49, in the semifinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 CAA Women's Basketball Championship Saturday evening at CareFirst Arena. Tenth-seeded Hofstra advances to the championship game Sunday against Charleston and is the lowest seeded-team in CAA history to reach the finals. Hofstra moves to 11-21 on the season with its fourth consecutive win, while Drexel drops to 21-10.

Hofstra erased a four-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation and sent the game to overtime on Sandra Magolico's fast break layup with three seconds remaining that tied the score at 44. The Dragons scored the first bucket of the extra session, but Ema Karim started the Pride's run with a jumper 54 seconds in. Alarice Gooden followed with a jumper and Magolico's three-point play with 44 seconds left capped the run. Drexel cut the lead to four with a free throw with 16 seconds left, but Magolico made a pair of free throws to make it a 53-47 lead with 13 seconds to go. The Dragons got an offensive rebound put back with three seconds left to close the scoring. 

Karim led Hofstra with 17 points and was the only Pride player in double figures. She also added six rebounds. Chloe Sterling had nine points, five rebounds, and five assists. Magolico added seven points and five rebounds. 

Drexel was led by Amaris Baker's 19 points. Deja Evans added 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Hofstra will face top-seeded Charleston at 2 p.m. The game will air on CBS Sports Network.

Notes:
-Hofstra is making its second CAA Championship Game appearance (2015).
-Karim's 17 points matched her season-high.
-Hofstra is 33-52 all-time against Drexel.
-Gooden pulled down six rebounds.
-Hofstra had 13 second chance points.
