Hofstra Looks to Keep Hot Start Going in CAA Home-Opener

Hempstead, NY – Fresh off a pair of wins to open league competition, the Hofstra women's basketball team will host Charleston on Friday, January 10, in a battle of the top two teams in the Coastal Athletic Association standings.
 
Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Pride secured its first 2-0 start in CAA play since the 2014-15 season with a 63-57 win at Delaware, Hofstra's first win against the Fightin' Blue Hens since 2016. Chloe Sterling led the Pride against Delaware with 18 points – with 14 points coming in the second half – while she added six rebounds and four assists in the win. Emma Von Essen scored 13 points against Delaware, and LaNae' Corbett tallied 10 points to give Hofstra three student-athletes with at least 10 points scored. Ramatoulaye Keita led the Pride in rebounding with 10.
 
Picked to finish tied with William & Mary for fourth in the CAA Preseason Poll, Charleston is 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the league after wins over Towson and Campbell to begin its conference schedule. CAA Preseason Player of the Year selection Taryn Barbot leads the Cougars with 14.9 points per game.
 
Hofstra holds an all-time record of 9-10 against Charleston, but the Cougars have won the last three meetings and five of the last six against the Pride. The teams last played on February 23, 2024, with the Cougars winning by 29 points in the Mack Sports Complex.
