Pride Looks To Conclude Regular Season With Win

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will look to conclude the regular season with a victory and in turn qualify for the upcoming CAA Championship when the Pride travels east to face Stony Brook on Saturday. For the Pride to earn a berth in the CAA Championship, Hofstra must defeat Stony Brook and have Monmouth defeat Drexel on Friday (3 p.m.). 

Opening face-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. from LaValle Stadium.

Hofstra enters the game with a 5-9 overall mark and a 2-4 CAA record. The Pride went 1-1 last week, going toe-to-toe with #9 Yale on Tuesday before defeating CAA opponent Hampton on Saturday. John Madsen leads the team with 48 points on 39 goals and nine assists, while Griffin Turner is second with 41 points on 14 goals and 27 assists. Chase Patterson, who has a 58.3 face-off winning percentage, leads the team with 120 ground balls. JT Roselle has 17 caused turnovers to lead the Pride in that category. 

Stony Brook is 4-9 and 2-4 in the league. The Seawolves have dropped their last two games, including an 11-10 decision at Fairfield this past Saturday. Nick Dupuis has 61 points on 15 goals and 46 assists to lead the way for SBU, while Dylan Pallonetti is second with 54 points on 43 goals and 11 assists. 

Hofstra is 7-6 all-time against Stony Brook in a series that began in 2004. The last two meetings were both in Hempstead with the Pride winning in 2021 and the Seawolves winning last season.
