Hofstra Travels to Nation’s Capital for Showdown Against Howard

| By:
Hempstead, NY – In the final non-conference road game of the season, the Hofstra women's basketball team is looking to make it two wins in a row when the Pride travels to Washington, D.C. for a clash against Howard on Thursday, December 21.

Tip-off is set for noon from Burr Gymnasium.

The game will be streamed live on Bison Live and WRHU 88.7FM will provide an audio-only broadcast of the game. These links, as well as a link to the live statistics, are available on this page and the women's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra ended a two-game losing skid with a 113-24 home win over Farmingdale State on Saturday, improving the squad to 5-4 coming into Thursday's contest. Five members of the Pride finished in double figures for the first time since 2022, with Emma Von Essen's 29 points leading the way. Von Essen tied a program-record for the most three-point field goals in a game with nine, matching the mark originally set in 1989 by Marguerite Moran against Delaware. She was joined in double figures by Selma Markisic (20 pts.), Brooke Anya (16 pts.), Janaia Fargo (14 pts.), and Alarice Gooden (12 pts.), while Tionna Baker posted a team-leading nine rebounds against the Rams.

Howard snapped a nine-game losing skid with a one-point win over Florida Atlantic this past Saturday. The Bison are led by Iyanna Warren with 11.4 points per game and Tyana Walker's 10.6 points per game.

This will be just the third meeting between Hofstra and Howard in women's basketball. The Bison have won both previous matchups against the Pride; a 73-64 result in Hempstead in 2019, and a 64-62 overtime win over the Pride in Washington, D.C. in 2021.
