Hofstra Hosts NJIT in Post-Thanksgiving Clash

Hempstead, NY – Two days after celebrating Thanksgiving, the Hofstra women's basketball team will return to the hardwood for a non-conference clash against NJIT on Saturday, November 25.

The Pride suffered a 63-60 defeat to Sacred Heart in Connecticut this past Sunday, putting their record at an even 2-2 heading into Saturday's home contest. Sorelle Ineza paced the squad with 20 points and three steals while adding three assists and three rebounds, and Emma Von Essen registered a personal-best 18 points against the Pioneers on seven baskets and four three-pointers, all personal bests as well. Zyheima Swint earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds, with an additional two blocks.
 
NJIT is 4-2 after an 83-60 defeat against Lafayette Tuesday night. Leading the Highlanders into Saturday is Alejandra Zuniga with 13.8 points per game, and Trinity Williams with 9.8 points per game.
 
Hofstra is 3-0 all-time against NJIT. This will be the first meeting between Hofstra and NJIT since December 9, 2014, a 62-47 win for the Pride in Newark, New Jersey.
