Boston, MA – Hofstra men's track freshman Abraham Longosiwa completed the 5000m in under 14 minutes as the Pride competed in its first meet of 2023 at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic.

A distance runner from Eldoret, Kenya, Longosiwa finished 16th in the 5000m with a time of 13:47.7. He became the first Hofstra men's runner to finish with a sub-14:00 time in a 5000m track race since Alex Masai clocked in at 13:24.68 at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Paul Markovina and Brian Beck also raced for the Pride in Boston in the 3000m, and the two both set new personal-bests. Markovina recorded a time of 8:18.59 to place 83rd, and Beck ran a time of 8:49.72 to finish 129th.

The Hofstra men return to action on February 3 at the METS Indoor Championships.
