Hempstead, NY – Hofstra men's lacrosse graduate student
Bryan McIntosh has been rewarded for his stellar 2022 season by being named an Honorable Mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse, the media outlet released late Sunday night.
A close defenseman from Jamison, Pennsylvania, McIntosh arrived at Hofstra after a four-year career at Mount St. Mary's and quickly established himself as one of the top takeaway defensemen in Division I. He led the Colonial Athletic Association and ended the regular season tied for third nationally with 40 caused turnovers in 15 games, while his 2.67 caused turnover per game average also put him atop the conference and fourth in Division I. McIntosh had 14 games with at least one caused turnover this season, and finished with at least two takeaways 13 times in 2022, including five caused turnovers against Fairfield to tie a career-high.
McIntosh was also a valued member of the team in the ground ball department, with 52 loose ball pick-ups to finish second on the team and sixth in the CAA. He averaged 3.47 ground balls per game, and recorded a career-high eight ground balls against Sacred Heart this season. He also added the third goal and sixth point of his career when he scored a goal from 55 yards away against Villanova.
His exceptional 2022 season earned McIntosh a spot on the All-CAA Second Team, and he was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the third round of the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft by the Cannons Lacrosse Club this past Tuesday.
With McIntosh's honor, this marks the third consecutive season a member of the Hofstra men's lacrosse team has been named an Inside Lacrosse Media All-American.
Ryan Tierney was named Honorable Mention after the COVID-shortened 2020 season, and he was named to the Third Team in 2021.
