BB: Hofstra Hosts Delaware In Key CAA Series

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team hosts Colonial Athletic Association rival Delaware in a key conference series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. at University Field. The series continues at 1 p.m. Saturday, and concludes Easter Sunday at 12 p.m.

Hofstra enters the weekend with a 13-14 overall record and a 5-4 mark in CAA action. The Pride is currently in fourth place in the CAA standings nearing the midway point of the conference slate. The Pride is coming off a 6-4 loss to St. John's this past Tuesday. Hofstra had a 2-0 lead before the Red Storm scored six unanswered runs. Sean Flaherty had a pinch-hit two-run home run in the ninth to get the Pride within two runs. 

Hofstra's strength this season has been its starting pitching with Mark Faello and Brad Camarda anchoring the weekend rotation. Faello, who will start Friday's game is 3-2 with a 2.86 ERA. Camarda, who will take the mound on Sunday, is 5-0 with a 3.05 ERA. 

Delaware enters the weekend with a 19-11 record and a 4-2 mark in the CAA. The Blue Hens have won nine of their last 10 games and are in third place in the CAA standings. Delaware leads the CAA in batting at .306 and are second in scoring at 7.4 runs per game. Bryce Greenly leads the Blue Hen offense with a .402 average while six other players are each batting over .300. Chris Ludman (4-2, 3.04), Joey Silan (2-3, 5.35), and Wyatt Nelson (2-0, 3.19) will start for the Blue Hens on the mound.
