Hofstra Travels to Rutgers for 2022-23 Opener

| By:
Hempstead, NY – The 2022-23 season of Hofstra women's basketball officially gets underway this Monday, November 7, with a road trip to New Jersey to square-off against Rutgers.

Tip-off from Jersey Mike's Arena is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The game will be streamed live on Big Ten Plus, while an audio-only broadcast will be available on WRHU-FM (88.7), and live stats will also be available. These links can be found on this page and on the schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

The Hofstra Pride enter season four under Head Coach Danielle Santos Atkinson following an 8-20 overall record and an appearance in the CAA Championship Quarterfinals the previous season. Santos Atkinson sees six returnees from 2021-22, featuring 2022 All-CAA Defensive Team selection Rosi Nicholson. In addition to the six returnees, seven newcomers – four transfers and three freshmen – have been added to the fold for another exciting season of Hofstra women's basketball.

Rutgers went 11-20 overall and 3-14 in the Big Ten last season, and Monday's game will be the first for the Scarlet Knights under new head coach Coquese Washington.

Monday's game will be just the fourth meeting between Hofstra and Rutgers, with the Scarlet Knights holding a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series. The last time the teams face on March 5, 1977, Rutgers came away with a 101-52 win over Hofstra.
