Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will play a pair of Long Island opponents this week as the Pride gets the week started when it travels to Stony Brook on Tuesday for "The Long Island Rivalry, presented by the Greene Turtle".
Opening face-off from Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Hofstra is 2-1 on the year following a narrow loss to Villanova on Saturday. Senior
Ryan Tierney led Hofstra with three goals in the win, while junior
Brian Herber had eight ground balls and was 11-21 on face-offs in the contest. Seniors
Michael Altmann and
Eric Wenz each added five ground balls, with Wenz also posting three caused turnovers. Tierney leads Hofstra with 15 points on 10 goals and five assists this season, while Herber is 46-73 on face-offs and has a team-best 29 ground balls. Altmann is second with 13 ground balls and Wenz is tops on the team with four caused turnovers.Â
Stony Brook has an identical 2-1 record and most recently captured an 11-10 decision over Brown on Saturday. Caleb Pearson had four goals to lead the Seawolves and Cory Vanginhoven posted three points on two goals and one assist. Pearson leads SBU with 10 goals, while Tom Haun is tied for the team lead in points with 10 on seven goals and three assists.Â
Hofstra leads the all-time series with Stony Brook, 6-4. Â
