WBB: Hofstra Continues Homestand Against Howard Sunday

THE FIRST LOOK
The Hofstra University Women's Basketball team is set to close out a three-game homestand against the Howard University Bison on Sunday, November 24. Tip-off at the David S. Mack Sports & Exhibition Complex is set for 6 p.m.

Sunday's matchup with the Bison will be the first in the 81-year history of the Hofstra women's basketball program.
 
A WIN OVER HOWARD WOULD…
  • Give Hofstra its second win of the season and the first win over Howard in program history

SCOUTING THE BISON
Howard (3-2), a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), is entering Sunday's contest coming off two-straight wins over Saint Peters and Loyola Maryland. The Bison average 70.8 points per game and have four players who average double figures in scoring, including Sarah Edmond (15.6), Gia Thorpe (12.5), Ayonna Williams (12.4) and Jayla Thornton (11.6). In addition to leading the team in scoring, Edmond leads the team with 4.4 assists per night.

SCOUTING THE PRIDE
Hofstra (1-3) is looking to snap a three-game skid entering Sunday's contest against Howard. Redshirt junior guard Ana Hernandez Gil leads the Pride with 9.5 points per game, while freshman guard Sorelle Ineza follows with 8.3 points per game and sophomore JaKayla Brown rounds out the top-three scorers with an average of 7.8 points. Last Monday against Cleveland State, Hernandez Gil reached double figures in scoring for the second time this season, netting a season-high 14 points with four three-pointers.

Hofstra will travel to nearby Long Island University to take on the Sharks at the Steinberg Wellness Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tip off on Saturday, November 30 is set for 2 p.m.
