Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team will head out east on Long Island this Tuesday, February 27 when the Pride travel to face the Seawolves of Stony Brook at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
Stony Brook will provide a live video stream and live stats of the contest while fans can listen to the action on WRHU-FM (88.7) and through Pride Productions on GoHofstra.com, with WRHU-FM student-broadcasters Anders Jorstad and John Grimaldi describing the action. The Pride, who are 0-2 on the season, have dropped decisions to sixth-ranked Ohio State, 9-7 on February 17 and, most recently, to eighth-ranked Villanova, 7-2 at James M. Shuart Stadium this past Saturday. Against the Wildcats of Villanova, the Pride found themselves down 3-0 after just 3:35 before settling in. Dylan Alderman scored both Pride goals, midway through the first quarter and at the end of the third quarter, to provide the Hofstra offense.
Hofstra was outshot by the Wildcats in the contest, 39-29 and also lost the battle of the ground balls, 34-18 and face-off, 10-3. Hofstra senior goalie
Jack Concannon recorded another double-digit save game with 13 saves.
On the season, the Pride is led in scoring by sophomore
Ryan Tierney with two goals and two assists. Junior attackman
Jimmy Yanes has three goals while Alderman has two goals on the year. Concannon has an 8.00 goals against average with 24 saves and a .600 save percentage. Hofstra averages 4.5 goals per game and allows 8.0 goals per contest.
The Seawolves of Stony Brook are 0-3 on the season with losses to Sacred Heart (11-9) on February 10 and Brown (18-11) last Saturday at home and at 15
th-ranked Penn State (15-8) on February 17. Stony Brook averages 9.3 goals per outing and allows 14.7 goals per contest.
The Seawolves are led in scoring by sophomore attackman Tom Hahn with four goals and four assists and classmate Cory VanGinHoven with three goals and four assists. Chris Pickel, Jr., another sophomore, has added six goals while freshman Jack Walsh has chipped in with two goals and three assists. Stony Brook has used three goalies this season but freshman Ryan Erier has started all three games and has a 14.66 goals against average with 19 saves with a .380 save percentage.
After the Stony Brook game, Hofstra will return home to face the Hoyas of Georgetown on Saturday, March 3 at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.
