Reigning CAA Rookie of the Year
Luke Brown tallied his first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw with Stony Brook on Saturday, with seniors
Jon Fraser and
Danny Elliott picking up the assists. Fraser got on the scoresheet in his first game of the season after returning from injury, and Elliott now leads the team with three points.
The Phoenix (3-0-2) has yet to lose this season, and is coming off a 1-1 draw on Tuesday with Charlotte, a team receiving votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll. Elon has wins over UCF, Presbyterian and High Point, and has allowed just one goal on the season, outscoring its opponents, 7-1, thus far.
Jaiden Fortune and Preseason All-CAA selection Elijah Agu share the team lead with two goals and two assists apiece. Goalkeeper Matthew Jeiger went four straight games without allowing a goal, before finally surrendering one to Charlotte on Tuesday.
The Pride and the Phoenix have met just three times in program history, in each season since Elon has joined the CAA. Hofstra has won all three meetings, taking last year's, 3-1, in North Carolina, with goals from
Joseph Holland, Brown and
Meshack Eshun Addy.
Hofstra steps back out of conference play on Tuesday, welcoming local Ivy League foe Columbia to Hofstra Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. tilt.
