Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Soccer Coach Stephen Roche announced that Pietro Santi has been named team captain. 

"Pietro showed tremendous leadership skills last season and loyalty to the program," said Coach Roche. "He has the respect and trust of his teammates and coaches, and I know he will do his part to uphold the high standards of Hofstra men's soccer." 

Santi, a graduate defender, appeared in 15 games with 13 starts last season. He was a Second Team All-Atlantic Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches and played a key role in helping the Pride to the third round of the NCAA Championship and a #20 final national ranking. Santi helped anchor a Hofstra defense that allowed less than one goal per game and posted seven shutouts.

A native of Civitavecchia, Italy, Santi developed at the club level with AZ Picerno, Frosinone Calcio, and Fermana prior to arriving at Hofstra. He attended high school at Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "Luigi Angeloni" Frosinone.
