Foster Promoted To Associate Head Coach

2/12/2026 1:27:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Soccer Coach Stephen Roche has announced that Assistant Coach Shaun Foster has been promoted to associate head coach. Foster, a 2014 Hofstra graduate, has been on the men's soccer staff since 2018.

"This promotion is so well-deserved," said Roche. "Shaun is a tremendous coach and has played a key role in our success. I have enjoyed the last eight years coaching alongside Shaun and look forward to many more. He is a tireless worker and this new title reflects his value to the men's soccer program."

Foster has played a central role in the Pride's sustained success in recent seasons, contributing to four CAA championships from 2021 to 2024 and multiple postseason runs, including appearances in the CAA finals in 2018 and 2020 and semifinal finishes in 2019 and 2025. During his tenure on the coaching staff, Hofstra has qualified for the NCAA Tournament five times, advancing to the third round in both 2021 and 2025.

One of the program's most decorated alumni, Foster is one of just nine coaches association All-Americans in program history, earning third-team honors in 2012 after three all-region selections, including a pair of first-team nods in 2011 and 2012. A three-time Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and a CAA Rookie of the Year, Foster was also named a finalist for the MAC Hermann Award, which honors the national player of the year. He was also invited to the MLS Combine.

Prior to returning to Hofstra, Foster gained collegiate coaching experience at Molloy beginning in 2016, where his responsibilities included training design and recruiting. He has also spent more than a decade coaching with the Massapequa Soccer Club, guiding multiple age groups to New York State Championships.

A native of Southport, England, Foster earned his degree in rhetoric from Hofstra in December 2014.
