Hempstead, NY – The fourth-ranked Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team will be looking to extend their undefeated streak this Saturday, April 8 when the Pride head south to Newark, Delaware for a Colonial Athletic Association contest against the Blue Hens of Delaware at UD Stadium. Game time is 1 p.m.
The Lax Sports Network will broadcast the game at Delaware as part of the "
CAA Game of the Week" broadcast package. As part of the

Hofstra, which is ranked in the Top 10 in all three weekly Division I polls for the third consecutive week, climbed into the top five in all three for the first time this season following their 10-6 CAA-opening victory at Fairfield last Saturday. The Pride is ranked third in both the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll and in the Maverik/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and moved up two places to fourth in the Nike/USILA Coaches Poll this week.
Last Saturday, Hofstra started off the CAA season on the right foot with the win at Fairfield which extended their school record start from the start of the season to 9-0. Concannon, who was added to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award Watch List earlier today (Thursday), recorded double-digit saves for the seventh time in nine games this season while Byrne, who is also a Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree, tallied five points or more in a game for the sixth time this season. This season, Hofstra has wins over Monmouth (11-9), Princeton (10-8), NJIT (20-4), Georgetown (11-9), North Carolina (11-9), Providence (11-10), Stony Brook (11-9), St. John's (9-6) and Fairfield (10-6). The Pride average 11.56 goals per game and allow 7.78 goals per game which ranks seventh in the country. Hofstra is also making the most of their extra-man opportunities, connecting on 15 of 31 man-up chances for a .484 success rate, which ranks 10th in the nation.
On the season, Byrne now has 25 goals and a career-high 20 assists in nine games giving him 90 points since his arrival for the 2016 season. Tierney has added 19 goals and 11 assists while Kavanagh has scored a career-high 15 goals and four assists. Junior
Dylan Alderman has added career-highs of 10 goals and 13 assists. Concannon has a 7.77 goals against average with 114 saves and a .626 save percentage.
Delaware and the Pride will be meeting for the 42nd time. Hofstra leads the series, 29-12 and has won six consecutive games since a 10-9 Blue Hens victory in the CAA Championship semifinals in 2011. The two teams met last on April 9, 2016 in Hempstead with Hofstra winning, 13-7.
The Blue Hens of Delaware enter Saturday's CAA contest with a 7-4 overall record and a 0-1 slate in the CAA after their 9-6 loss at Massachusetts last Saturday. Delaware has wins over Mount St. Mary's (18-5), Monmouth (11-10 in OT), VMI (15-9), Villanova (13-10), Manhattan (12-9), St. Joseph's (12-7) and Rutgers (13-9). Their losses have come against Bucknell (14-13), Navy (11-5), Binghamton (13-9) and UMass. Delaware averages 11.55 goals per game and allows 9.64 per outing.
Delaware is led in scoring by sophomore Andrew Romagnoli with 29 goals and 13 assists while freshman Charlie Kitchen has 23 goals and 13 assists. Senior Will Hirschman has added 13 goals and 13 assists, sophomore Joe Eisele has notched 19 goals and four assists while senior Trupert Ortlieb has contributed 18 goals and four assists. Freshman Matt DeLuca has a 9.38 goals against average with 96 saves and a .558 save percentage.
After the Delaware contest, the Pride will head home for two conference games beginning with Drexel, for the HEADstrong Foundation Hero Bowl match-up on Saturday night, April 15. Game time at James M. Shuart Stadium is 7 p.m.
