BB: Hofstra Hosts Towson In CAA Series This Weekend

Hempstead, NY - Following a bye weekend in Colonial Athletic Association play, the Hofstra Baseball team returns to conference action this weekend with a three-game series against Towson University. The series at University Field begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday and Sunday with 1 p.m. starts each day.

Hofstra enters the weekend 1-2 in the CAA and 7-19 overall. The Pride is coming off a 9-6 loss Wednesday to LIU Brooklyn. Hofstra rallied from a 6-0 deficit to tie the score at 6 in the bottom of the eighth, but the Blackbirds hit two home runs in a three-run ninth to take the win.

The Tigers come to Hempstead with a 0-3 record in conference after getting swept by Northeastern last weekend. Overall, Towson sports a 10-15 record and is coming off a 27-14 loss to Cornell this past Wednesday.

Richard Miller leads Towson in batting with a .307 average while A.J. Gallo is batting .291 with six doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs. Richie Palacios has a .280 average, two home runs and 16 RBIs. Dave Marriggi leads Towson in wins with three. Michael Adams has a 2-2 mark and a 3.51 earned run average. Kevin Ross was 0-3 with a 3.16 ERA

Hofstra is 32-55 all-time versus Towson and the Tigers won two of three games last season at Towson.

Pitching matchups for the series will be as follows:
Friday: Teddy Cillis (0-4, 4.22) vs. Dean Stramara (1-3, 5.92)
Saturday: Jorge Marrero (1-3, 3.60) vs. Kevin Ross (0-3, 3.16)
Sunday: John Rooney (1-6, 5.65) vs. Michael Adams (2-2, 3.51)
