Hofstra Hosts Stony Brook In Weekend CAA Series

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team returns to action this weekend for a three-game CAA series against Long Island rival Stony Brook. Game times at University Field are set for 2 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. on Sunday. All three games will stream live on FloCollege with live statistics also available. Hofstra enters the weekend with a record of 10-16 overall and a 5-7 mark in the CAA. The Pride is coming off a 1-2 weekend at Towson. Michael Brown leads the Pride in batting at .352 and has added 26 runs. Gabriel Melara had a strong week to raise his average to .303 with eight doubles, three home runs, and 11 RBIs. Melara hit all three of his homers in the series at Towson, including two in Saturday's 9-6 win. Tyler Cox has a .287 average and leads the Pride with four home runs and 36 RBIs. Nick Reese, Tanner Sanderoff, and Maddon McArthur lead the team with two wins each. Carlos Martinez has 27 strikeouts to pace the staff.

Stony Brook comes to Hempstead with a 9-20 overall record and a 6-9 record in the CAA. The Seawolves took two of three from UNCW last weekend and are coming off a loss at Sacred Heart this past Tuesday. Nicholas Dromboski and Nick Zampieron lead the Stony Brook offense, batting .324 and .323 respectively. Zampieron has stolen 15 bases. Micah Worley has a 3-3 record in eight starts with a 3.09 ERA and 52 strikeouts to anchor the pitching staff. 

Hofstra is 20-23 all-time against Stony Brook. The Seawolves swept the series last season at University Field.
