Hempstead, NY – The undefeated Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team continues to climb in the Top 10 in all three Division I weekly polls following their victories over local rivals, Stony Brook and St. John's last week.
Hofstra, which extended their school record slate from the start of the season to 8-0, is ranked third in both the Maverik/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the US Lacrosse/Nike and sixth in the USILA/Nike Coaches Poll.
The Pride climbed in each of the polls this week moving from fifth to third in the Maverik Media Poll and the US Lacrosse/Nike Poll, and from seventh to sixth in the USILA/Nike Coaches Poll.
The Maverik Media Poll ranking is Hofstra's best since a second-place ranking on May 9, 2006 while the USILA Coaches Poll ranking is the best since a fourth-place ranking on March 14, 2011.
Hofstra's highest national rankings in both the coaches poll and the media poll was second on May 9, 2006.
In addition to the national weekly polls, Hofstra is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse RPI. Notre Dame, Denver and Syracuse are ahead of the Pride in the NCAA RPI.
Hofstra will be back in action on Saturday, April 1 when the Pride travel to Connecticut to face the Stags of Fairfield University (3-6) in their Colonial Athletic Association opener. Game time at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium is 7 p.m.
