BB: Hofstra Opens Colonial Athletic Association Play At Charleston

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball team will open Colonial Athletic Association play tomorrow at 6 p.m. when they face the College of Charleston at The Ballpark at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in the opening game of a three-game series. The series will continue Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and conclude with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday.

The Pride enters CAA play with a record of 5-14 and is coming off a 6-5 win at NYIT this past Tuesday. Steven Foster hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning that put the Pride ahead and John Ryan pitched three perfect innings to close out the contest and earn his first win of the year. Teddy Cillis also drove in a pair of runs with a double while David Leiderman and Nick Bottari both delivered two hits on the day.

The Cougars are 8-13 on the season and have lost six consecutive games, including an 8-4 setback Tuesday night against No. 6 Clemson. Luke Manzo leads Charleston with a .400 average. Logan McRae is batting .380 with a team-high seven home runs and 24 RBIs. Bailey Ober, who has been out with an injury, leads the pitching staff with a 3-0 record and a 2.57 ERA. Nathan Ocker has three saves and a 3.72 ERA.

Hofstra is 4-10 all-time versus College of Charleston and swept the Cougars in a three game series at University Field last season.
