Hofstra, which is ranked in the Top 15 in all three weekly Division I polls, is 5-0 on the season heading into this weekend's contest against Providence. The Pride is ranked sixth in the Nike/US Lacrosse Poll, seventh in the Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Media Poll and 11th in the Nike/USILA Coaches Poll this week. Hofstra, which is coming off an 11-9 victory at then-fifth-ranked North Carolina last Saturday, was ranked in the Top 20 last week only by US Lacrosse, which placed the Pride at number 15.

In last week's victory at North Carolina, junior Alex Moeser scored back-to-back goal at the end of the third quarter and the start of the fourth to snap an 8-8 tie and lead the Pride to victory over the Tar Heels, Classmate Dylan Alderman, who was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week, tallied career-highs of three goals, three assists and six points to earn the honor. It was the first hat-trick of his career with all three goals coming in the second quarter. Senior Josh Byrne added three goals and two assists for his fourth five-point game in five outings this season. Freshman Ryan Tierney chipped in a goal and an assist. Junior goalie Jack Concannon made 13 saves for his fourth double-digit save game of the season.

Hofstra, which has opened the season with five consecutive wins for the first time since 2011 and only the eighth time in school history, also has wins over Monmouth (11-9), Princeton (10-8), NJIT (20-4) and Georgetown (11-9).

Byrne now has 16 goals and 11 assists in five games this season while Tierney has added 12 goals and seven assists. Junior Brendan Kavanagh has scored 10 goals and two assists while Alderman has added five goals and seven assists. Concannon has a 7.79 goals against average with 57 saves and a .606 save percentage.

Providence and Hofstra will be meeting for the seventh time on Saturday. The Pride, who lead the series, 5-1, suffered their first loss in the series with the Friars last season in Providence, 12-7. Hofstra was led by Brian von Bargen with three goals and one assist while Brendan Kavanagh had two goals and Sam Llinares added a goal and an assist. Jack Concannon made seven saves in the Pride goal. The last Hofstra victory in the series with Providence came in 2015 in Hempstead with the Pride posting a 15-4 win.

The Friars of Providence enter Saturday's game with a 4-2 record with victories over Holy Cross (10-4), Bryant (7-6), Vermont (8-6) and High Point (17-8) and losses to Boston University (8-7 in double-overtime) and Sacred Heart (10-8). Freshman Ryan Nawrocki has contributed five goals and one assist in six games. Sophomore Alex George has won 51 of 79 face-offs and picked up a team-high 32 ground balls. Sophomore goalie Tate Boyce has a 7.31 goals against average with 58 saves and a .592 save percentage in 328 minutes of action in six games.

After the Providence contest, the Pride will continue with their three-game homestand at Shuart Stadium when they host the Seawolves of Stony Brook on Tuesday night, March 21. Game time is 7 p.m.
