New York, N.Y. – The Hofstra Women's Basketball team will play its final game of the fall semester on Monday, taking on Columbia at 7 p.m. in Levien Gymnasium in a game that will be televised on SNY.
In addition the broadcast on SNY, the game will also be available for a fee through the Ivy League Network, though the ILN broadcast will be blacked out in the five boroughs. Columbia will also provide live stats, and a Pride Productions audio-only broadcast will be available. The Pride (5-4) got back in the win column on Thursday night, routing Iona, 68-43. Sophomore
Marianne Kalin had a career night, posting her first double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, both career highs. Senior
Olivia Askin also tied a career-best with 18 points, marking her third straight game in double figures.
Columbia (5-5) has won three in a row heading into Saturday's matchup with Buffalo, beginning with an impressive 68-60 win over Boston College. The Lions then routed UMBC, 60-44, and flaunted their offensive power in a 94-81 win over Saint Francis (Pa.). Two of Columbia's losses have come at the hands of ranked teams, as it fell to then-No. 7/3 Mississippi State and No. 24 Arizona State in the Cancun Challenge. Camille Zimmerman leads the Lions in nearly every statistical category, averaging 20.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
This will be the 16th meeting between Columbia and Hofstra, with the Lions holding a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series. The teams haven't met since the 2003-04 season, when Columbia took a 76-62 win at Columbia.
After the matchup with the Lions, Hofstra will take a 10-day hiatus for final exams before returning to action on Dec. 21 to take on St. Bonaventure at 2 p.m. at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
