WBB: Hofstra Heads To Lady Rebel Round-Up At UNLV

Las Vegas, Nev. – The Hofstra Women's Basketball team will trek west this week, heading to the Lady Rebel Round-Up where the Pride will take on host UNLV at 12 p.m. (PST)/3 p.m. (EST) on Saturday at Cox Pavilion. The winner will advance to Sunday's championship game to face the winner of Minnesota versus Wake Forest, while the loser will play in a consolation game.
 
All games will be available via live stats, while the matchup against UNLV will be streamed live. Both of Hofstra's contests will have a Pride Productions audio-only broadcast on the Hofstra portal. Links to game coverage can be found on this page and the Hofstra Women's Basketball schedule page.
 
The Pride (2-2) got back in the win column on Tuesday night, topping Holy Cross, 69-63 behind double-figure performances from seniors Ashunae Durant (15 points), Olivia Askin (14 points) and Aleana Leo (14 points). Askin has put up double-digits in back-to-back games for the first time in her career and picked up a career-high seven rebounds in the victory.
 
UNLV is off to a 3-0 start to the season, picking up wins over Portland State, UC Irvine and Grand Canyon, all at home. The Lady Rebels have four players averaging in double figures, led by Katie Powell's 17.3 points per game with Brooke Johnson not far behind, averaging 15.3. Powell is also averaging double figures in rebounding, pulling down 11 boards per game. Nikki Wheatley is also averaging a double-double with 12.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
 
UNLV was predicted to finish fifth in the Mountain West in the conference's preseason poll. The Lady Rebels finished 2016-17 with a 22-11 record and an at-large bid to the WNIT.
 
This will be the first meeting between Hofstra and UNLV and the Pride's first-ever contest against any current member of the Mountain West.
 
Hofstra will then take on either Minnesota or Wake Forest on Sunday. The consolation game will be held at 12 p.m. (PST)/3 p.m. (EST) while the championship will begin at 2:30 p.m. (PST)/5:30 p.m. (EST).
 
The Golden Gophers are unbeaten at 4-0 this season and will take on Xavier on Wednesday night before heading to Las Vegas. Minnesota also has four players averaging in double figures, led by Kenisha Bell's 21.3 points per game. The Pride has never take on the Golden Gophers.
 
The Deamon Deacons are off to a 2-2 start and coming off a 65-51 loss at Rutgers. Amber Campebll is leading the team with 12.0 points per game. Wake Forest holds a 3-0 advantage in the all-time series with Hofstra.  
 
Following the Lady Rebel Round-Up, the Pride will return to the east coast for a trip to Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. on Nov. 30.
