FH: Hofstra's De Wolf and O'Brien Named To The CAA All-Rookie Team

Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Field Hockey freshmen Philine de Wolf and Frankie O'Brien have been named to the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey All-Rookie Team, the CAA announced Thursday afternoon.

De Wolf, a forward from Eindhoven, The Netherlands, started all 19 games for the Pride and was second on the team with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. She was second on the Hofstra team in goals and ranked 11th in the CAA in goals per game.
 
De Wolf tallied two goals in wins against both Rider and Saint Francis and added a goal and an assist in the victory over UMass Lowell. She also ranked 13th in the conference in points per game. On the season, de Wolf took 48 shots with 29 on-goal and tallied two game-winning goals.

O'Brien, a defender from Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, also started all 19 games and was third on the team in scoring with 15 points on four goals and a team-high seven assists. She ranked seventh in the CAA in assists per game.

O'Brien tallied goals against UMass Lowell, Yale, Towson and Sacred Heart and tied the school record with three assists against Saint Francis. She also recorded a goal and an assist against Towson and Sacred Heart. On the season, O'Brien tallied 42 shots including 21 on-goal and led the Pride with two defensive saves.

In addition to the All-CAA Field Hockey teams, the CAA also announced its special award winners. Defending national champions and CAA regular season champs Delaware took home three of the four awards as Greta Nauck was named CAA Player of the Year, Lotte de Koning was voted Rookie of the Year and Coach Rolf van de Kerkhof shared the CAA Coach of the Year Award with James Madison's Christy Morgan.
