Pride’s Season Concludes in CAA Championship Semifinals

West Long Branch, NJ – The four seed Hofstra field hockey team's 2025 season came to a close on Friday, November 7, with a 5-0 loss to top seed and hosts Monmouth in the semifinals of the 2025 Coastal Athletic Association Championship from So Sweet A Cat Field.
 
The Hawks, three-time defending regular season CAA champions and ranked #12 in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, scored 1:40 into the start of the contest to take an early lead. Despite the Hawks taking 11 total shots in the first half, Luci Hollister made three first half stops to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the third quarter.
 
Hollister and the Hofstra defense continued to keep Monmouth off the board until the 6:54 mark to make it a 2-0 score to the Hawks. The game broke open in the fourth quarter with a trio of Monmouth goals inside the contest's final five minutes.
 
Hollister registered eight stops in net for the Pride.
 
Hofstra concludes its season with a 9-9 overall record.
 
NOTES:
-Teresa Karoff finishes the season with a team-best 13 goals and 29 points, and Gwenn van Dijk was the team-leader for assists with 10.
-Hofstra's nine wins are the most by the Pride since 2016, and the 2025 season marks the first time since 2015 that Hofstra finished the season with an overall record of .500 or better.
-Hofstra is now 6-9 all-time versus Monmouth.
