MSOC: Hofstra Hosts College of Charleston At James M. Shuart Stadium

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra men's soccer opened Colonial Athletic Association with a 2-0 win over James Madison last weekend and continues conference play Saturday with a 7 p.m. matchup with College of Charleston. As a result of preparations for the Presidential Debate, the game will be held at James M. Shuart Stadium on Hofstra's campus.

The game will be available via Pride Productions live video with links available on this page or via the men's soccer schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio-only broadcast can also be heard via the portal.

Junior Meshack Eshun Addy scored the difference-maker in the 55th minute against James Madison on a pass from senior Joseph Holland before junior Danny Elliott tacked on an insurance goal in the 90th minute with an assist to senior Nino Alfonso.

Sophomore goalkeepers Leonard Arkhanhelskyi and Alex Ashton teamed up for the clean sheet, as the Hofstra defensive unit has allowed just one goal in its past four games.
Holland leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists. Elliott is close behind with two goals of his own.

Holland will be squaring off against his younger brother on Saturday; Cornell Holland is a sophomore on the College of Charleston men's soccer team. Cornell scored the Cougars' lone goal in a 3-1 loss to then-No. 23 Florida International.

Charleston comes into the weekend at 2-3-1, picking up 2-0 wins over Navy and Furman.  In addition to falling to FIU, a trip to the West Coast resulted in an overtime loss to Seattle and a defeat from Washington. In conference play, the Cougars played Elon to a 1-1 draw, and the Phoenix was receiving votes in the NSCAA National Rankings at the time. Joseph Terry leads the scoring with two goals while Avery Ryan's four points on a goal and two assists top the team. Kevin Shields has played every minute in goal, making 28 saves and posting a 1.28 goals-against average and .778 save percentage.

The Pride and the Cougars have met the past three seasons after Charleston joined the CAA in 2013, and the series stands at an even 1-1-1, with neither team ever scorin more than one goal. The sides played to a draw in the first meeting, Hofstra took the second and Charleston won last season's matchup.

The Pride goes back on the road next week, travelling to Northeastern for a 6 p.m. conference matchup on Wednesday.
