A rising power in international basketball, Canada was invited to participate in the USA Basketball Showcase last weekend, playing in three different arenas in the northeast United States against three of the top teams in the world. Canada fell to the United States, 83-43, and Australia, 80-67, but defeated France, 71-63.Â
Murphy, a native of Beaconsfield, Quebec, is now in her 11th season with the Canadian National Team. Last summer, she helped Canada to its first-ever gold at the Pan-American games, defeating the United States, 81-73, in the title game. A month later, she came off the bench and scored four points in the FIBA Americas championship as Canada beat Cuba, 82-66, in the gold medal game to qualify for the Rio Olympics. Murphy appeared in six games for Canada at the 2012 Olympics in London, averaging 4.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 17.5 minutes per game as the team finished eighth.

At Hofstra, Murphy left her mark as one of the top rebounders in program history, finishing her career with 988 board, good for third on the Pride all-time list. She added 1,245 career points.
