MSOC: Hofstra Travels To No. 11 Boston College, Harvard

Boston, Mass. – Hofstra men's soccer will be looking to bounce back from a 6-0 loss to No. 22 UNC Charlotte when it heads to the Boston area for a pair of games this weekend. The Pride will first take on No. 11 Boston College at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon before heading to Harvard for another 4 p.m. game on Sunday. Both games will be available via live stats, and Sunday's game at Harvard will have a live stream available for a fee.

Hofstra freshman Luke Brown earned Colonial Athletic Association Co-Rookie of the Week honors this week after scoring his first career goal and the Pride's first goal of the season in Hofstra's 3-1 win at local rival Stony Brook on Friday. Brown opened the scoring in the 20th minute, and after the Seawolves had equalized, senior Joseph Holland, who was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, netted two goals in 1 minute, 20 seconds to put the Pride on top, 3-1.

Charlotte was the first of five teams currently ranked in the NSCAA National Rankings that the Pride will face in 2016, and No. 11 Boston College is next on the docket. The Eagles advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2015 NCAA Tournament after defeating the Georgetown team that had eliminated the Pride. After finishing last season 11-8-2, BC is predicted to finish fourth in the ultra-competitive Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Eagles are off to a 2-0 start, defeating Quinnipiac, 2-0, in the season opener before handing local rival Boston University a 3-2 defeat on Sunday. Senior midfielder Zeiko Lewis was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List at the beginning of the season after finishing 2015 with five goals and seven assists. Lewis and sophomores Simon Enstrom and Trevor Davock were the team's top three leading scorers last season, and all return in 2016.

In net, Cedric Saladin has played every minute of both games, making five saves.

Friday's matchup will be the first meeting between the Pride and the Eagles.

Hofstra stays in the Boston area for Sunday's contest at Harvard, just the second meeting between the sides after the Crimson took a 5-0 win over Hofstra in 1992.

Harvard begins its season Friday with a matchup against Villanova. The Crimson finished second in the Ivy League last season, posting a 9-6-2 record for 2015. However, Harvard graduated five of its top seven scorers from last season, and therefore will be looking for younger players to step up and contribute offensively in 2016.  In addition, both of the Crimson goalkeepers that saw time in net in 2015 have graduated.

The Pride will have nearly a full week off following Sunday's game, returning home to face Army West Point at 5:30 on Sept. 10. The game will be part of a doubleheader with the Hofstra women's soccer team, as well as part of Hofstra Soccer Alumni Day and a special "Hofstra Remembers" 9/11 tribute event.
