Charlotte, N.C. – After a big 3-1 win over local rival Stony Brook to open the season, Hofstra men's soccer will travel to No. 22 UNC Charlotte for a 7 p.m. game on Monday. The game will be available via free live stats and live video for a fee.
The Pride got the 2016 season off on the right foot, taking down the Seawolves on Friday night. Freshman
Luke Brown netted his first career goal in the 20th minute, but Stony Brook was quick to respond, knotting the game at one in the 26th minute. Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Player of the Year
Joseph Holland the scored twice in 1 minute, 20 seconds in the second half to lift Hofstra to the win.
Preseason All-CAA selection senior
Harri Hawkins led a Hofstra backline that allowed just two shots on goal from the Seawolves. Sophomore goalkeeper
Alex Ashton recorded the win in his first career start.
The meeting with the Pride will be Charlotte's first game of the season. The 49ers finished the 2015 season at 11-6-3 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. But Charlotte lost its leading scorer from a year ago, Kyle Parker, to graduation. Senior Brandt Bronico returns, however, after finishing last season with eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points. The 49ers also bring back three of the back four.
Monday's game will be the first meeting between Hofstra and Charlotte.
The Pride will then continue its road trip, heading to Boston for matchups with No. 11 Boston College and Harvard on Sept. 2 and 4, respectively.
