Kathy De Angelis today announced that seniors
Emily Gallagher and
Colby Hussong have been selected the Pride team co-Captains for the 2016 season.
"I congratulate Emily and Colby on their selection as 2016 Hofstra Field Hockey co-Captains," De Angelis stated. "It is a special honor to be voted a team captain by your teammates as their representatives. Both Emily and Colby are true leaders and lead by example. Both have a great work ethic, are good communicators and have the respect of their teammates and coaching staff."
Gallagher, a native of North Wales, Pennsylvania, has played in all 59 games during her three-year Pride career. A solid two-way player at midfield, she tallied a career-high four points on one goal and two assists in 2015. Gallagher is a three-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad selection as well as a three-time Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Award recipient.
Hussong, a native of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, has started all 39 games as a member of the Pride since transferring from Miami University (OH) after her freshman season. She previously played in 22 games for the Red Hawks of Miami in 2013. Starting her second season as a team captain in 2016, Hussong posted career highs of six goals, five assists and 17 points in 2015. She is a two-time NFHCA National Academic Squad member as well as a two-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award recipient.
The Pride begin their 2016 regular season on Friday, August 26 at the University at Albany at 3 p.m. The Pride's first home game at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium is on Friday, September 2 against the University of Maine. Game time is 3 p.m.
