BB: Hofstra Hosts James Madison To Close Out 2016 Campaign

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Baseball team wraps up the 2016 season with a three-game home series against CAA-rival James Madison beginning Thursday at 3 p.m. Game two will be Friday at 3 p.m. and the series will conclude Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Pride (15-34, 5-15 CAA) enters the series fresh off a 5-4, 13-inning loss at Monmouth on Tuesday. Steven Foster hit his first home run of the season and David Leiderman added two hits and two RBIs. Zach Altieri (0-1) took the loss after surrendering the game-winning sacrifice fly in the 13th inning. Altieri allowed two hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. Adam Heidenfelder had a strong relief appearance as he did not allow a hit and struck out six batters in 2 2/3 innings.

James Madison (20-29, 10-11 CAA) is coming off a 14-0 loss at UMBC Tuesday, in which the Dukes had just one hit. Chad Carroll leads the Dukes in batting on the season with a .386 average and 17 stolen bases. Zach Tondi (.326), Brett Johnson (.325) and Ky Parrott (.314) are also batting over .300 for the Dukes. Johnson has a team-high six home runs.

Hofstra is 11-29 all-time versus James Madison. The Dukes took two of three from the Pride in Harrisonburg, Virginia, last season.
