BB: Hofstra Travels To FDU, Hosts Fordham To Start Busy Week

Hempstead, NY - Coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Longwood, the Hofstra Pride Baseball team will look to get back in the win column Tuesday afternoon when the team travels to Fairleigh Dickinson University. Game time at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex is 3 p.m.

Hofstra (4-10) lost three close games to the Lancers, including two walk-off defeats. Alec Eisenberg pitched seven innings in the opener, allowing just four hits. But an error allowed two runs to score in the 2-0 loss. In game two David Leiderman tied the game at 3 with an RBI single in the ninth before Longwood won it in the 12th with a solo home run. Hofstra rallied again in the ninth inning in game three, as Nick Bottari and Teddy Cillis homered to give the Pride a 5-4 lead, but the Lancers answered with three straight hits in the bottom of the inning including a game-winning two-run double to pick up a 6-5 win.

Fairleigh Dickinson is 6-6 on the season. The Knights are coming off a four-game sweep of Lehigh in a home-and-home series this past weekend. Hofstra and FDU do share a common opponent as both teams were swept by Longwood. John Giakas leads FDU with a .342 average, four home runs and 11 RBIs. Bobby Romano has two triples, two home runs and six RBIs, while Matt McCann has stolen 11 bases. Collectively, the Fairleigh Dickinson pitching staff has a 4.92 ERA led by Logan Fratti's 1.17 in three starts.

Senior Chris Bonk (0-1) will start for the Pride in Tuesday's contest. FDU has not announced a starter for the game as of yet.

The Pride and the Knights have met 28 times in the past with Hofstra holding a 16-12 advantage in the series. The teams have not played since May 10, 2006. Hofstra won that game, 16-4.
