WBB: Hofstra Returns Home To Host Delaware State

Hempstead, N.Y. – Hofstra Women's Basketball will be looking to get back in the win column when it returns home to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to take on Delaware State.

The Pride suffered its first loss of the season Friday night at Navy, falling, 78-69. Junior Ashunae Durant, who led the Colonial Athletic Association in double-doubles last season, picked up her first of the year, posting 13 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Ana Hernandez Gil knocked down five three-pointers to lead Hofstra with 15 points.

Durant continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, with both currently ranking fifth in the CAA. Junior Krystal Luciano holds the team lead in assists with 15, averaging 5.0 per game, which is tied for third in the conference.

The Pride will be looking for its third win in four all-time meetings with Delaware State on Tuesday. Last season, Hofstra took a 66-49 win over the Lady Hornets on the road.
Delaware State picked up its first victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, topping Wagner, 61-49. The Lady Hornets had opened its 2016-17 campaign with losses to Detroit Mercy (90-71), fellow CAA squad Drexel (69-44) and Lehigh (91-80).

Sophomore NaJai Pollard has put up impressive numbers thus far, averaging a double-double with 24.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and shooting 61.9% from the field. Junior Mikah Aldridge is also averaging in double figures, with 11.0 points per game.

After the matchup with the Lady Hornets, Hofstra will head to the west coast, taking on Sacramento State on Friday and UC Davis next Sunday.
