Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Department of Athletics is saddened to announce the passing of former Pride women's basketball student-athlete Cigi McCollin.
McCollin, a member of the Hofstra women's basketball team from 2002 to 2007, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer.
One of the all-time greats in Hofstra women's basketball history, McCollin totaled 1,662 points, 441 rebounds, 248 assists, and 173 steals during her five seasons in a Pride uniform. She also connected on 291 three-pointers.
McCollin ranks fifth all-time in scoring, first in three-pointers made, and fifth in games played.
She was a member of two postseason teams: the 2006 squad that advanced to the second round of the WNIT and the 2007 team that reached the quarterfinals of the WNIT. The 2007 team, which earned a win over South Carolina during its historic postseason run, also recorded the program's first-ever victory over a nationally-ranked opponent with a 57-53 win against No. 17 Michigan State in November 2006.
